Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner (land) of Manirampur upazila in Jashore Saiyema Hasan has been withdrawn and attached to Divisional Commissioner’s office over punishing three elderly men through a mobile court.
Confirming the matter to Jago News, Public Administration Secretary Sheikh Yousuf Harun said we are expressing sorrow over the incident.
A departmental case will be filed against her, he said.
According to the source, the mobile court led by Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner (land) Saiyema Hasan conducted the drive in different areas in the upazila on Friday afternoon.
During the drive, she punished the three elderly men including a van driver and a vegetable vendor in Chinatola Bazar and ordered them to hold their ears with their hands in public for not using masks.
The executive magistrate also captured a photo of the punishment in public.
The photo sparked huge criticism on social media.
In this connection, Deputy Commissioner of Jashore Mohammad Shafiul Arif said that he had seen the photo. “It is not acceptable. She could not do it. A departmental action is being taken against her”
