The 27th span of the much-awaited Padma Multipurpose Bridge was installed on Saturday morning.
The span was placed between the 27th and the 28th pillars at Jajira point in Shariatpur 9:20 am.
Md Humayun Kabir, Deputy Assistant Engineer of the bridge project, confirmed the matter to Jago News.
Earlier, the 26th span of the Padma Bridge was installed on March 10.
A total of 41 spans will be installed on 42 concrete pillars to complete the bridge.
According to the project details, the construction of the 6.15-kilometre long Padma Bridge is going full swing with a target of completing it as soon as possible.
On October 14, 2018, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina unveiled the name plaque of the Padma Bridge Toll Plaza at the Mawa end.
According to experts, the national economy is expected to witness a 1.2 percent GDP growth rate, while poverty will be reduced by 0.84 percent every year after the bridge is completed at an estimated cost of Taka 30,193.39 crore. The first span of the Padma Bridge was installed on September 30, 2017.
