Govt declares general holiday from Mar 29 to Apr 2

The government has declared general holiday from March 29 to April 2 to stop spread of coronavirus. 

Cabinet Secretary Khandakar Anwarul Islam said this at an emergency press conference held at the Secretariat on Monday afternoon. 

Secretaries of different ministries including Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary Dr Ahmad Kaikaus were present during this time.

Earlier on March 16, the government decided to shut down all educational institutions including schools, colleges and madrasahs from March 17 to March 31.

Bangladesh on Monday reported its third death from coronavirus and identification of six new patients, taking the total number of confirmed cases to 33.

Bangladesh reported the country’s first death from coronavirus on March 18.
