The new coronavirus pandemic, first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December last year, kept spreading to newer countries.
The deadly virus spread to at least 180 countries, killing some 10,047 people globally, according to Worldometer, a website which compiles number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.
As many as 245,850 people worldwide caught the virus. Among them, 88,441 people recovered from the virus, the website said.
China, the epicenter of the COVID-19, confirmed 3,248 deaths from the virus and 80,967 patients.
Italy, the second worst-hit country outside China, surpassed the latter in the number of deaths from the epidemic. It reported 3,405 deaths as of March 20.
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases of the European country reached 41,035, more than half of the China's ones.
After Italy, the third worst-affected country by the coronavirus is Iran where 1,284 deaths were recorded and cases number is 18,407.
Besides, another European country Spain also got hit hard by the virus. Its coronavirus death tally rose to 831, and affected people are 18,077.
Bangladesh on March 8 confirmed its first three cases of the coronavirus, and on March 19 the number stood at 17. Among them, one ill-fate died, said the Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control And Research (IEDCR).
Gradually rise of the virus prompted the country's government to take several measures, inlcuding closure of all educational institutions until end of the month, shutting down all hotel, restaurant, and club bars, disallowing all kinds of gatherings, and imposing lockdown in Shibchar, an upazila of the country's Madaripur district.
