Outgoing Supreme Court (SC) justice Zinat Ara said that she fulfilled her father's dream by being a justice of the apex court.
"My father had dream one day I will become a justice of Supreme Court, and I met his desire but unfortunately he died three months before my being justice," she said.
In such way she reminisced about her father, who was also registrar of the top court, in her farewell ceremony at the Appellate Division on Thursday.
During this, the Supreme Court Bar Association president advocate AM Amin Uddin and Attorney General Mahbubey Alam offered farewell greetings to her with presence of other justices and lawyers of the SC.
Zinat Ara is the second woman justice of the Appellate Division. Earlier, Nazmun Ara Sultana went to retirement as the first female justice of the same division.
In her goodbye speech, Zinat said she as a judge tried her best to ensure justice to the justice seekers staying with truth and right during her around four-decade tenure. She also expressed her gratitude to the all who cooperated with her doing her job.
Born on March 15, 1953, Justice Zinat Ara became district and sessions judge on September 15, 1995. She was appointed as additional justice at the High Court (HC) on April 27, 2003.
On April 27, 2005 she became permanent justice of the HC, and took charge as the Appellate Division justice on October 9, 20018.
