Fire at Rupnagar slum under control

A devastating fire that broke out at a slum in Mirpur’s Rupnagar area has been brought under control.

On information, 25 firefighting units rushed to the spot and doused the flame for around 2.5 hours.

Members of the fire service evacuated the inhabitants of the slum after the fire originated at south side of it at 9:45am. 

The reason behind the fire could not be known immediately. No casualties were not reported.   

The fire has been brought under control around 12:30pm, said Russel Shikder, Duty Officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters’ control room.
