Central Women’s University (CWU) held a seminar on ‘Feminine Health and Hygiene Management’ on 4 March, 2020, a press release said.
Sponsored by ACI Ltd, the seminar was organized to celebrate the International Women’s Day.
Before the formal discussion sessions started, students from different departments staged a short play aimed at creating awareness about Breast Cancer.
Later on, in the formal discussion sessions, Dr Samiya Mahmood (Manager Quality Assurance, Marie Stopes Bangladesh) talked on Cervical Cancer and Breast Cancer; Dr Tajnuva Rahman (Training Officer, Marie Stopes Bangladesh) discussed on Menstruation and Menstrual Hygiene; and Dr Arifa Billah (Clinical & Aesthetic Dermatologist, Asgar Ali Hospital) discussed on Personal Skin Care. Ms Rabeya Akter (Lecturer, DBA, CWU) gave a brief presentation on Feminine Hygiene Management in Public Place. The formal discussion session ended followed by a Q&A session.
Dr Perwen Hasan, Vice-Chancellor of CWU thanked the speakers while presenting them crests.
Mr Md Sharifuzzaman, Assistant Manager (Hygiene Products), ACI Ltd informed that ACI Ltd will set-up a vending machine at CWU soon so that the students can purchase sanitary napkins inside the university premises.
Dr Maleka Begum, Chairperson, Department of Sociology and Gender Studies; Mr Hasan Shirazi, Chairperson, Department of Business Administration; Mst Shahnaj Parvin, Chairperson, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, and Mr Sajeeb Sarker, Chairperson, Department of Journalism and Media Studies along with faculty members of the university, distinguished guests, and students were present there. The program was anchored by Barrister Afrin Islam, Senior Lecturer and Chairperson, Department of Law, CWU.
