Popular film actor Salman Shah was not murdered, rather he committed suicide over family feud, PBI has said in a report.
Police Bureau of Investigation chief Banaj Kumar Mazumder upheld 600-page invesitgation report of the murder-suicide case at a press conference on Monday afternoon.
Presenting the report, Banaj Kumar said it was found in overall enquiry including statemenmts of 44 that the film actor killed himself over family dispute. Nothing they found that proves he was killed.
In its investigation, PBI found five reasons behind Salman Shah's taking own life. The reasons include excessive intimacy with actress Shabnur; conjugal conflict with wife Samira; taking suicide attempt several times being over emotional; boundless love to mother that turned into accumulated distraction because of complicated relationship; and incompleteness of conjugal life due to not having children.
Shahriar Chowdhury Emon alias Salman Shah mysteriously died on September 6, 1996. Later, his father Kamaruddin Ahmed Chowdhury (late) lodged an unnatural death case in this connection.
Later on Julay 24, 1997, he alleged that his son was killed, and requested police to transform the UD case into murder one.
Subsequently investigation charge of the case was bestowed upon police's Criminal Investigation Department (CID) following a court order.
The specialized wing of police, CID, submitted its final report before court on November 3, 1997 in which death of Salman Shah was mentioned as suicide case.
And the final report was accepted in Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court, Dhaka on November 25 of the same year.
Salman Shah's father refused the report and filed a rivision case.
On May 19, 2003, court sent the case for judicial investigation, and the same was in for around 15 years.
Metropolitan Magistrate Imdadul Haque on August 3, 2014 submitted report of the judicial investigation before CMM court judge Bikash Kumar Saha. The film actor's death was also mentioned as suicide in the report.
On December 21, 2014, Salman Shah's mother Nila Chowdhury refused the judicial investigation report into her son's death. Rather, she submitted discontent plea on the report before the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Zahangir Hossain on February 10, 2015.
In the plea, Nila Chowdhury mentioned 11 people, including Aziz Mohammad Vai, may have link to her son's murder.
Then, Rapid Action Battalion investigated the case. But prosecution on April 19 last lodged a revision case before Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court against the order on RAB's enquiry.
Later, court asked PBI to look into the case.
