Nirapad Sarak Chai (Nischa) founder and chairman Ilias Kanchan has lodged a Tk 100 crore defamation case against former Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan.
The former actor, Ilias Kanchan, lodged the case against the transport workers' leader Shahjahan Khan with the First Joint District Judge's Court, Dhaka, seeking Tk 100 crore in compensation.
The road safety movement authority confirmed the matter in a press release on Wednesday.
Earlier on December 8, 2019, Shahjahan Khan in a programme in Narayanganj said that he will publicly uphold the calculation of what amount of money Ilias Kanchan received from where and for which purpose, what amount he took for himself, his son, and daughter-in-law from the received money, the press release said.
In an instant reaction at that time, Ilias Kanchan gave the former minister 24-ultimatum to withdraw his statement but the latter did not do so.
The road safety movement leader on December 11 last year again gave the transport workers' leader 24 hours to withdraw his speech and seek apology but he did not withdraw and apologised for it.
