Several hundred workers of a readymade garment factory today blocked Nabisco intersection in the capital’s Tejgaon protesting the dismissal of 80 of their colleagues.
The workers of Kaniz Garments Limited started their blockade at 9:30am disrupting vehicular movement on the busy thoroughfare.
An agitator named Alal Hossain told Jago News that the authorities of the garment factory sacked 80 employees recently. They are not allowing the workers to enter into the factory for last three days.
Confirming the blockade to Jago News, a duty officer of Tejgaon industrial police station seeking anonymity said they removed the workers from the main road at 10:30am and gave them a place in front of Bureau of Non-Formal Education for demonstrating.
