The by-polls to Dhaka-10, Gaibandha-3 and Bagerhat-4 will be held on March 21 as the Election Commission today announced the polls schedules for the three parliamentary constituencies.
Election Commission Secretary Md Alamgir announced the polls schedules at the Nirbachan Bhaban in capital’s Agargaon area.
According to the schedule, the deadline for submission of nomination paper is February 19, while the date for scrutinising the nomination papers is February 23 and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is February 29.
The Gaibandha-3 constituency fell vacant following the death of Doctor Yunus Ali Sarker on December 27, while the Bagerhat-4 fell vacant following the death of Doctor Mozammel Hossen on January 10.
Apart from, the Dhaka-10 seat fell vacant after Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh resigned from the parliament to contest in the DSCC polls on December 29.
The Election Commission has a constitutional obligation to complete any parliamentary by-polls within 90 days after the constituency concerned falls vacant.
