Whip of the parliament Abu Sayeed Al Mahmud Swapon was injured in a road accident in Naogaon on Thursday morning.
The incident took place on Naogaon-Rajshahi regional highway near Ferryghat mosque in Manda upazila around 10:30am.
Naogaon Deputy Commissioner Harun Or Rashid and Superintendent of Police Abdul Mannan Miah visited the spot.
According to the source, the whip was injured when a tractor hit a Joyourhat-bound microbus carrying him in the area. He suffered injury on his right leg and was admitted to Manda upazila health complex. Later, he started his journey to Joypurhat around 12:30pm after taking primary treatment from there.
Confirming the incident to Jago News, Mojaffar Hossen, officer-in-charge of Manda Police Station, said the tractor was sized after the incident.
To be noted, Swapon, the MP from Joypurhat-2 constituency, is also performing as organising secretary of ruling Awami League for 2nd consecutive time.
