A freedom fighter and local Awami League leader in Narayanganj's Sadar upazila has accused his son of whipping him and his wife for money to buy drugs.
Victim Joynal Abedin Tulu is the president of 12 no. Ward Awami League under Narayanganj city and commander of Khanpur Muktijuddha Unit Command and former councilor.
Joynal lodged a case against his son Fahad with Sadar Model Police Station on Wednesday.
After the lawsuit was filed, police arrested the accused, Fahad. Later, he was sent to jail following a court order.
The case statement said Fahad on different occasions vandalized house furniture and beat up his mother after they did not give him money to buy drugs.
In continuation, Fahad on Monday hit his father with ax after the latter refused give the former money for drugs.
The father fell on to the ground. The son, then, whipped him repeatedly.
He also whipped his mother when she tried to save husband, leaving both severely injured.
Nearby people, later, rushed there and took them to Khanpur Hospital, the case statement read.
Locals said Fahad is a drug addict and he often beat up parents for money to take drugs. He also committed various offenses in the locality in the name of Chhatra League.
Sadar Police Station inspector Joynal Abedin said the accused was arrested in a case filed by his father and sent him to jail following a court order.
