The main mayoral candidates of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) elections cast their votes at their respective polling centres on Saturday morning.
AL mayoral candidate for DNCC polls Atiqul Islam cast his vote at Nawab Habibullah Model School and College centre in Uttara around 8:15am while his main rival candidate of BNP Tabith Awal exercised his vote at Manarat Dhaka International School and College centre in Gulshan at 8am.
AL mayoral candidate for DSCC polls Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh cast his vote at Dhanmondi Government Girls High School centre at 8:40am while his main rival candidate of BNP Ishraq Hossain exercised his franchise at Shaheed Shahjahan Government Primary School centre.
The voting in DNCC and DSCC elections began at 8am and it will continue till 4pm without any break.
A total of 13 mayoral candidates are vying in the Dhaka north and south city corporations while around 7500 candidates are contesting for councilor posts in the two city corporations.
