A total of 65 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed as the striking force in the capital early Thursday.
They will be on duty for four days before and after the February 1 DNCC and DSCC elections.
A total of 50,000 members from all forces will remain deployed in the elections.
Md Shariful Islam, Public Relations Officer of BGB, confirmed the matter to Jago News.
According to the Election Commission (EC), 38 platoons in Dhaka South City and 27 platoons of BGB in Dhaka North City will serve as the striking force.
Besides, 172 executive magistrates and 64 judicial magistrates will be deployed on election duty. There will be one platoon BGB deployed in every two wards while an executive magistrate will be required from January 30 to February 2 with each team of the BGB.
To be noted, over 54 lakh voters in two city corporations will exercise their voting rights. Of them, 30.10 lakh are in 54 Wards of DNCC and 24.53 lakh in 75 wards of DSCC.
