The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has approved chargesheet against three officials of the Farmers Bank Limited (Now Padma Bank) in an embezzlement case.
The anti graft body approved the chargesheet against the trio on Wednesday.
The accused are Mohammad Shamsul Hasan Bhuiyan, 42, former AVP and manager, Mahbub Ahmed, 38, former senior executive officer and manager (operation), and Md Kawsar Hossain, 38, former officer and credit in-charge respectively of the bank's Bashundhara Branch.
The chargesheet read Afroza Begum, proprietor of Azmir Electronics, opened an account at Bashundhara Branch of Farmers Bank (Now Padma Bank). After opening this, she did not make any transaction and take any check book.
But the accused made transaction of money in the account in several times without informing it holder and issued a check book in her name counterfeiting her photo, documents and signature.
Subsequently Afroza placed an application seeking Tk 1 crore loan but the bank approved Tk 80 lakh.
Out of the approved amount, the accused misappropriated around Tk 77 lakh through deception and forgery.
Later, a case was lodged against them in this connection. ACC assistant officer Md Sahidur Rahman is investigating the lawsuit.
