A woman in Tangail brutally killed her eight-year-old step son over a trivial matter and then, staged drama saying that the miscreants committed the homicide to loot ornaments.
Sabrin Begum Sinthi, mother of the victim, Saif Uddin, confessed the crimes before the court of Senior Chief Judicial Court judge Munira Sultana in the district on Monday evening.
District detectives officer in-charge Shyamal Kumar Dutta said Sinthi along with Saif was watching TV in their Aminbazar rented house in the district town on Saturday.
During this, little Saif raised the TV's volume. Sinthi asked him several times to reduce sound but he refused that angered her.
She confined Saif with his hands and legs tied in a room. After 30/40 minutes, he died.
She, later, put the body into a bucket with water. To conceal truth, she also phoned husband saying that unidentified three miscreants stormed and tied her and Saif's hands and legs to loot gold ornaments. While going, they drowned him in water of bucket.
After the murder, police started looking into the matter and detained the couple on suspicion.
In interrogation, Sinthi admitted that she killed Saif, and agreed to confess before court, DB official Shyamal added.
