Awami League lawmaker of Jashore-6 constituency Ismat Ara Sadique passed away on Tuesday. She was 78.
Ismat, also former State Minister for Public Administration, breathed her last while undergoing treatment at United Hospital in the capital around 11:30am.
She left behind a son, a daughter and many well-wishers to mourn of her death.
She was born in Keshabpur upazila’s Bhogoti village in Jashore on December 12, 1942.
She along with her husband A S H K Sadique joined Awami League in 1992 and founded Mahila Awami League in Keshabpur upazila in 1996.
Ismat won in 10th parliamentary election in 2014 and became state minister for primary and mass education.
She also won in 2018 national election but didn’t get any ministry portfolio.
