Thieves hold man hostage to rape wife

A group of seven thieves have allegedly gang raped a housewife after holding her husband hostage in Singair upazila of Manikganj.

The incident took place in Charigram union in the wee hours of Wednesday that shocked the locals.

Police have detained four people in connection with the rape. They are: Lebu, 40, Motiar, 40, Zahirul Zuhu, 26, and Mazed, 38. The detainees are known as drug addicts in the locality.

The victim, however, has been admitted to One Stop Crisis Center (OCC) of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). 

Husband of the raped woman lodged a lawsuit with Singair Police Station on Thursday evening in this connection.

He mentioned in the case that seven thives burgled their house around 12:15am and tied his hands and legs. Then, they took her wife another room and forcefully violated her for one-and-half-hour. While escaping, they also snatched away her smartphone.

Singair Police Station officer in-charge Abdus Sattar Mia said they, so far, detained four people, and later, they were shown arrested in the case.

Police are trying to arrest the rest accused, OC Sattar added.
