Amid widespread protest in India following the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC), Bangladesh State Minister for foreign affairs Shahriar Alam has cancelled his planned two-day visit to the neighbouring country.
He was invited to attend the Raisina Dialogue 2020 scheduled to be held in New Delhi on January 13 and 14.
A top official seeking anonymity said: “State minister sir would not go to India. He will go to United Arab Emirates as an entourage member of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on January 12.
Earlier, Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen and Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal cancelled their visit to India. Bangladesh also canceled Joint River Commission Meeting with India.
