Retired eminent physics professor Ajoy Roy passed away in a city hospital on Monday afternoon. He was 85.
He breathed his last at BIRDEM Hospital around 12:35pm while undergoing treatment.
The hospital director brigadier general (retired) Shaidul Haque Mallik confirmed the matter.
Ajoy Roy had been undergone treatment at Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital since November 25.
Founder of Shikkkha Andolan Mancha, Ajoy Roy was one of the founders of Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee. Last he was adviser of the committee.
He was the father of science writer Avijit Roy who was brutally killed by militants in Ekushey Book Fair in 2015.
Retired from Physics Department of Dhaka University as professor, Ajoy Roy took part in liberation war in 1971.
