BUET students call off protest, decide to return classes

Students of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) have called off their protest demanding justice for the killing of their fellow student Abrar Fahad.

The students on Wednesday afternoon ended their protest programme formally after around two months as the authorities of BUET fulfilled their all demands.

Mahmudur Rahman Sayem, spokesperson of the student, came up with the announcement at a press conference on the Shaheed Minar premise of the university.

He said, they will return classes and sit for the term examination which is scheduled to be held from December 28.

Abrar Fahad, 21, a second-year student of electrical and electronic engineering of BUET, was beaten to death on October 7 by Chhatra League leaders at BUET’s Sher-e-Bangla Hall.

Abrar’s father Barkatullah filed the case at Chawkbazar Police Station on Monday evening accusing 19 people. So far, 20 accused have been arrested.
