Students of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) will face expulsion from the institution if they involve themselves with ragging and political activities.
If allegation of any student's death due to ragging is proved, the university administration will expel the accused for life. Not only this but also the university law officer can lodge case against the accused.
The BUET administration will also expel the student who is found involved with politics, the university made the disclosure at a press release on Monday night.
Regarding punitive measures for ragging, the notice said accused will face lifetime expulsion from BUET for ragging if its causes death, serious bodily harm, any form of disability, permanent mental imbalance etc.
The university law officer shall file a case against the accused for the above mentioned offenses, said in the notice.
About punitive action against student politics, it was said in the notice that the highest punishment for doing student politics at BUET would be expulsion from the university for life.
The notice said a student will face warning, suspension for any length of time and expulsion for good for directly or indirectly conveying ones political involvement; holding political posts or conducting political activities (including campaigning, participating in processions, meetings, putting up graffiti or posters, etc) in the university.
Earlier November 21, twenty six students of Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET) were expelled permanently over the murder of their fellow Abrar Fahad.
Six other students have also been expelled from the university for different terms for violating university discipline.
Abrar Fahad, 21, a second year student of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) department and a resident of Sher-e-Bangla Hall of BUET was mercilessly beaten to death allegedly by some leaders and activists of the university unit Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on suspicion of 'Shibir' activist at the night of October 6 over a facebook post where he criticized some deals between Bangladesh and India.
