AL’s Dhaka north, south get new committees

Sheikh Bazlur Rahman and SA Mannan Kachi have been elected as president and general secretary of Dhaka north unit of Awami League (AL) respectively for the next three years.

Besides, Abu Ahammad Mannafi and Humayan Kabir have been elected as president and general secretary of Dhaka south unit of AL respectively for the same period.

The two committees were formed during the triennial council held at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka on Saturday. 

Rahman was the senior vice president and Kachi was the joint secretary of Dhaka north unit AL. 

Mannafi was the senior vice president and Kabir was the executive member of Dhaka south unit AL.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also president of the ruling AL, inaugurated the council as the chief guest by hoisting the national flag and releasing pigeons and balloons in the morning.

AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader, Dhaka North City AL President AKM Rahmatullah and its General Secretary Sadeq Khan and Dhaka South City AL General Secretary Shahe Alam Murad were present at the council.

The last council of the undivided Dhaka City Awami League was held on December 27, 2012.
