Ansar member shot dead in broad daylight

Unidentified miscreants shot an Ansar member to death in broad daylight in Sadar upazila of Jashore on Saturday morning.

Deceased Hossain Ali Tarafder, 52, was a resident of Hashimpur Tarafdarpara in the upazila.

It was primarily known that former member of extremist group Hossain Ali surrendered to then Home Minister Mohammad Nasim in 1999 and joined Ansar force.

Witnesses and locals said some unidentified men opened fire on Hossain Ali at Hashimpur Bazar around 11:00am, leaving him dead on the spot. 

Siddiqur Rahman, nephew of Hossain Ali, said his uncle worked at Ansar Battalion in Dhaka. He came home five to six days ago in a leave.

Local ward member Ali Hossain Boni said shopkeers shut their establishments and people at the market started running away in fear of the broad daylight shooting.

Locals assume the ansar man might have been murdered following old dispute of extremist group.

Being informed, police rushed to spot and recovered the body, adding that they have already started drive to nab the killers.
