BNP Vice-Chairman Major (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, Joint Secretary General Khairul Kabir Khokon and former general secretary of Hawkers’ Dal Maqbul Hossain have secured bail in a case filed over attack on police and vandalising vehicles.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Sayeed granted the bail on Thursday.
DB police inspector and investigation officer of the case Delwar Hossain arrested the three leaders and produced before the court seeking 10 days’ remand.
On the other hand, the BNP leaders’ lawyer Syed Nazrul Islam filed bail petition for them.
The court granted the bail petition after hearing of both sides.
Earlier, detectives detained Hafiz Uddin Ahmed from the Supreme Court area in the capital around 12pm.
Police arrested Khairul Kabir Khokon from Supreme Court’s mazar gate area.
Police on Tuesday lodged a case with Shahbagh Police Station on charges of obstructing government work, setting fire and vandalizing vehicles including police vehicles over chase and counter-chase incidence with BNP leaders demanding BNP chief Khaleda Zia’s release. 500 unidentified persons made accused, with names of 15 to 20 people.
