Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today asked the authorities concerned to implement the four projects taken by the Liberation War Affairs Ministry in the quickest possible time alongside taking measures for their proper maintenance, reports BSS.
“I want quick completion of these (the projects),” she said while witnessing a power point presentation on the four projects at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) here.
The premier also stressed the need for proper maintenance of those projects.
The four projects are Swadhinata Stambha Construction (3rd Phase) at Suhrawardy Udyan, House Construction Project for Insolvent Freedom Fighters, Mujibnagar Independence War Memorial Complex Construction Project and 360 Degree Panorama for Bangladesh Project.
Of the projects, the first one, involving Tk 265.44 crore, had started in January 2018 and 30 percent of its work has already been completed.
Under the Shadhinota Stambha Construction (3rd Phase) project, two memorial monuments marking the historic 7th March Speech by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the surrender by the Pakistani occupation forces on December 16 in 1971 will be constructed at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan.
An 18-feet sculpture of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman depicting his historic March 7 speech will be installed at the Suhrawardy Udyan.
Under the House Construction Project for Insolvent Freedom Fighters, 14,000 one-storey houses titled ‘Bir Nibash’ will be constructed at a cost of Taka 2,253 crore. The Prime Minister will give the houses to the freedom fighters as gift marking the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation.
Each 900-square feet house will be constructed on four decimals of land at a cost of Tk 15.75 lakh.
Under the third project, Mujibnagar Independence War Memorial Complex Construction Project will be implemented at the historic Mujibnagar in Meherpur aimed at presenting a true picture of the Liberation War to the people.
The complex which is now on 81.76 acres of land, will require additional 49.27 acres.
The Liberation War Affairs Ministry also placed a project before the premier for construction of panorama marking the memorial of the Liberation War. On this, the premier advised the concerned authorities to consult with the international experts on the matter.
Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, PM’s Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Adviser Dr Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, PM’s Security Affairs Adviser Maj Gen (Rtd) Tarique Ahmed Siddique, State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain, former Health Minister AFM Ruhal Haque, PM’s Principal Secretary Md Nojibur Rahman, PMO Secretary Sajjadul Hassan, PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim and Chief Architect of the Department of Architecture ASM Aminur Rahman were present at the function.
Eminent painter Hashem Khan and Dean of the Fine Arts Faculty of Dhaka University Prof Nisar Hossain, who are involved in the first project, were also present, while Liberation War Affairs Secretary in-Charge SM Arifur Rahaman made the presentation over the projects.
