500 BNP men sued over clash in front of SC

A case has been lodged against unidentified around 500 leaders and activists of BNP over vehicles vandalizm and attack on police in front of the Supreme Court (SC).  

Police filed the case with Shahbagh Police Station on Tuesday night, confirmed officer in-charge (OC) Abul Hasan. 

Earlier on Tuesday afternoon, BNP leaders and activists led by the party vice chairman Abdullah Al Noman suddenly took position at the main gate of the Supreme Court (SC) demanding release of Khaleda Zia from jail.

The former Prime Minister is now serving in jail for corruption involving the Zia Orphanage Trust.

A chase and counter-chase occurred among BNP leaders and activists and police there. During this, several vehicles were vandalized, disrupting vehicular movement in the area.

Police, later, baton charged the BNP men and fired tear gas to dispurse the agitators and bring the situation under control.
