Bangladesh Truck Covered-van Goods Transport Owners Workers Unity Council have announced the work abstain programme for indefinite period protesting the Road Transport Act-2018.
The strike will begin from Wednesday across the country, truck drivers’ union president Tazul Islam on Tuesday confirmed the matter to Jago News.
The organization alleged that, Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) don’t give easily the licenses for plying heavy vehicles. The drivers are facing fine of Tk 25,000 when they ply heavy vehicles with light licenses.
Truck drivers’ union president Tazul Islam said the drivers of truck and covered van would not ply the vehicles as they have to face fine of Tk 25000 for silly matter in the new act.
However, the labours stopped the plying of buses in some districts as the new Road Transport Act came into effect from Monday. BRTA launched eight mobile court drive in the capital on the day.
