Retirement age limit of freedom fighters in government jobs will remain 60, Appellate Division has said in its full verdict on the matter.
The full verdict of the Appellate Division declaring High Court verdict on public sector freedom fighters' retirement age limit illegal was published on the Supreme Court website on Sunday.
In in the verdict, the Public Servant Retirement (Amendment) Act, 2013 raising retirement age limit of the freedom fighters to 60 from 59 years was declared legal.
Earlier on November 18, 2018, an Appellate Division bench led by chief justice Syed Mahmud Hossain cancelled the HC verdict which declared Public Servant Retirement (Amendment) Act, 2013 illegal on April 11, 2018.
In 2009, the government amended the Public Servants (Retirement) Act raising the retirement age limit of the freedom fighters in government jobs from 57 to 59 years.
In 2012, another amendment was brought to the law increasing the retirement age limit of all public servants from 57 to 59 years and later the freedom fighters’ retirement age was increased to 60 years from 59.
