4 sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering CNG driver

A court here today convicted four persons to life imprisonment in a case filed over murder of CNG autorickshaw driver Alamgir Hossain in capital’s Kafrul area in 2013, reports BSS. 

Judge Sheikh Hafizur Rahaman of Dhaka Special Judge Court-9 passed the order, also fining each of the convicts Taka 30 thousand, to suffer six-month imprisonment in default.

The convicts are Kamrul Islam, 25, Sumon, 23, SM Saifullah, 50, and Abu Shama.

According to the case documents, the convicts used to create mayhem after taking drugs in the area. On a day in March, 2013, they threw garbage on the house of Alamgir, making him to protest.

On March 17, 2013, the convicts came to the house of Alamgir and started beating him mercilessly. At one stage they hacked him with sharp weapons.

As his family rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, on duty doctors declared Alamgir dead. Victim’s widow Hazera Begum filed the case with Kafrul Police Station the next day.

Judge Sheikh Hafizur Rahaman today came up with the judgement after examining 16 witnesses on different occasions.
