A legal notice was served to Daily Prothom Alo on Sunday seeking Tk 10 crore compensation over the death of Dhaka Residential Model College (DRMC) student Nayeemul Abrar.
Besides, Abrar’s father Mojibur Rahman filed a case with Mohammadpur Police Station over the death on Saturday.
G G Biswas, officer-in-charge of Mohammadpur Police Station, confirmed the case to Jago News.
Secretaries to Information Ministry, Education Ministry, Power, Energy and Mineral Ministry, Publisher and Editor of Daily Prothom Alo, Editor of Kishor Alo, monthly youth magazine of the newspaper, were served the legal notice.
Publisher and Editor of Daily Prothom Alo and Editor of Kishore Alo were also ordered to give the compensation to Abrar’s family.
On behalf of former student DRMC Obayed Ahmed, Supreme Court lawyer Faijullah Foyez sent the notice to concerned people by post.
Nayeemul, a ninth-grader non-residential student of DRMC, was electrocuted by a power generator during a program organized by Kishor Alo on the school premises on Friday.
