Menon expresses sorrow over remarks on election

Workers’ Party President Rashed Khan Menon has expressed sorrow over his recent remarks on the 11th parliamentary election.

Awami League presidium member and the spokesperson of 14-party alliance Mohammad Nasim told the reporters at the party president’s political office in Dhanmondi on Monday.

He said: “We sent a letter to him seeking explanation of his remarks. He gave explanation of his remarks and expressed sorrow.”

Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal President Hasanul Haq Inu, Samyabadi Dal general secretary Dilip Barua and Bangladesh JaSaD Nazmul Haque Pradhan were present among others during this time.

While addressing a conference of the party’s Barishal district unit in the city on October 19, Menon, who is a component of the AL-led 14-party alliance, alleged that people could not vote in the December 30 parliamentary polls.

“Although I was elected in the election, I am testifying that people couldn’t cast their votes in that election. They couldn’t vote in the union parishad and upazila parishad polls,” he said.
