4 killed as locals clash with police in Bhola

Four people were killed and more than fifty people including police members injured in a clash between police and local people in Bhola on Sunday. 

Of the deceased, three people were identified as Mizan, 40, Mahfuz Patwary, 45 and Abdul Gani. 

The tense situation was prevailing in the area. 

However, five platoons BGB members were deployed in the area to control untoward situation. 

Md Shariful Islam, Public Relations Bangladesh of BGB headquarters, confirmed the matter to Jago News. 

According to the source, a rally was held at Borhanuddin high school playground protesting the derogatory remarks against Allah and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on facebook messenger at 11am while thousands of people took part. Police asked them to end the rally shortly. At one stage, local people locked into the clash with police.  

Witnesses said, the agitators hurled bricks at the police. In reply, police opened fire on them.  

Rathindranath Majumder, Civil Surgeon of Bhola, confirmed the death of four people.  

Md Kaisar, Police Superintendent of Bhola, said the local people didn’t take permission to hold the rally. We urged them to end the rally shortly but they attacked on us. 

To be noted, police kept a youth named Biplop Chandra Shubha in custody for interrogation for his alleged derogatory remarks against Allah and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) after he went to the Borhanuddin police station and claimed his facebook id was hacked on Friday evening.
