The assistant teachers of government primary schools on Thursday continued their work abstention programme for the consecutive three days across the country demanding to upgrade their salary scale from 14th to 11th grade of the National Pay Scale.
They will attend the grand rally scheduled to be held in Dhaka on October 23 if their demand are not met, said the leaders of Bangladesh Primary Teachers Alliance Council.
Earlier on Wednesday, the teachers observed half-day long work abstention programme.
In 2015, government increased the salary of assistant teachers from Tk 5,200 to Tk 10,200 as per the 14th grade of the 8th national pay scale.
According to the primary and mass education ministry, the number of government primary schools is 65,593 and the number of teachers in these schools is 349,217 in the country at present.
