BUET students take mass oath against terrorism, end demo

The students of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) today called off their demonstration programme over the murder of Abrar Fahad.

They also took mass oath against terrorism and communal power.

The mass oath-taking ceremony was held at the university’s auditorium around 1:35pm. Rafia Rimki, a student of 17th batch, administered the oath.

BUET Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Saiful Islam and Student Adviser Professor Dr Mizanur Rahman were present during this time.

Earlier on Tuesday, the students postponed their demonstration programme and said they would not attend the class until the killers of Abrar have been suspended from the university permanently.

Abrar Fahad, 21, a second-year student of electrical and electronic engineering of BUET, was beaten to death on October 7 by Chhatra League leaders at BUET’s Sher-e-Bangla Hall.

Abrar’s father Barkatullah filed the case at Chawkbazar Police Station on Monday evening accusing 19 people. So far, 20 accused have been arrested.
