A court has placed Dhaka South City Juba League’s expelled president Ismail Chowdhury Samrat on a 10-day remand in two cases filed under the Arms and Drug Acts.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Tofajjal Hossain on Tuesday passed the order putting him on a 5-day remand in arms case and another 5-day remand in drug case.
However, hundreds of Samrat’s supporters demonstrated blocking the main gate of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court at Old Dhaka demanding release of expelled Jubo League leader around 11:30am.
The protests began after Samrat was brought to the court premises for his remand hearing.
To be noted, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Samrat and his associate Arman from Cumilla.
