A court has sentenced seven people to death in a case filed for the murder of a pickup van driver in Faridpur.
Faridpur District and Session’s Judge Md Selim Miah passed the order around 11am on Thursday.
The death-row convicts are Tofa Molla, 26, son of late Abdul Molla, Polash Fakir, 32, son of Abdul Mannan Fakir, Siddiq Khalasi, 36, son of Samsul Haque Khalasi, Ershad Matubbor, 32, son of Abdul Malek Matubbor, Suruj alias Sirajul Kha, 27, son of late Moslem, Naim Matubbor, 35, son of late Abdul Malek Matubbor and Anu Mollah alias Anwar Molla, 28, son of Giaus Uddin Molla. Of them, Naim and Suruj are on run.
All of them are the inhabitants of Chandra village at Bhanga upazila of the district.
According to the case statement, Keramat Hawladar, a pickup van driver, of Uttar Lohardia village in the upazila, went into missing on December 14, 2014. He was found dead in Digolkandha Beel beside the village the next day.
Later, Keramat’s brother Ikram Hawladar filed a murder case with Bhanga Police Station.
