Detectives have detained a leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) unit in connection with the murder of Abrar Fahad.
Amit Saha, Deputy Felicitation Secretary of BUET BCL, was detained from Sabujbagh in the capital on Thursday morning, said DB Joint Commissioner Mahbub Alam.
Amit will be taken to DB office for primary interrogation. He will be shown arrested if he is found guilty in the murder.
Abrar, 21, a second year student of EEE department and a resident of Sher-e-Bangla Hall of BUET was pronounced dead on Monday after he was mercilessly beaten allegedly by some BCL activists of the university unit.
Later in the day, Abrar’s father filed a case against 19 BCL men with Chawkbazar Police Station.
A Dhaka court on Tuesday granted a five-day remand for each of the 10 accused who were arrested on Monday.
