Abrar murder: 10 BCL men placed on 5-day remand

A court has placed ten leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) unit on 5-day remand in a case filed for the murder of Abrar Fahad.  

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sadbeer Yeasir Ahsan passed the order after the investigation officer of the case prayed 10-day remand for them. 

The BCL leaders who were given 5-remand are BCL BUET unit General Secretary Mehedi Hasan Rasel, Vice President Mustakim Fuad, Assistant Secretary Ashikul Islam Bitu, Deputy Office Secretary Mujtoba Rafid, Deputy Social Welfare Secretary Ifti Mosharraf Sokal, Deputy Law Secretary Amit Saha, Sports Secretary Sefayetul Islam Jion, Information and Research Secretary Anik Sarker, Concatenation and Research Secretary Ishtiaque Munna and Khandakar Tabkhkharul Islam Tanvir. 

Abrar, 21, a resident of Sher-e-Bangla Hall of Buet was pronounced dead around 3 am on Monday by BUET medical officer Dr Md Mashuk Elahi after he was mercilessly beaten allegedly by some BCL activists of the university unit.

Police arrested nine leaders and activists of BCL in connection with the killing of Abrar on Monday and his father filed a case against 19 BCL men with Chawkbazar Police Station.
