The Cabinet Committee on Public Purchase on Wednesday approved two proposals including one to appoint Saif Powertec Limited as the terminal operator for handing the containers and container-laden cargos at Chattogram Port for six years, BSS reports.
Briefing the reporters after the meeting held at the Cabinet Division at Bangladesh Secretariat, Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said the proposal for appointing Saif Powertec Limited as the terminal operator at Chattogram Port was approved as the firm was recommended and evaluated by the Technical Evaluation Committee (TEC) as the substantially responsive bidder with Taka 303.99 crore.
Kamal said since the operations of containers and container-laden cargos is complex in the Chattogram Container Terminal area under the Chattogram Port, tender bids were floated following the PPR-2008 under the “Single Stage Two Envelope” method. Then, some four firms purchased the tender documents but only Saif Powertec Limited submitted their bids.
The day’s meeting approved another proposal for appointing the joint venture of NJS Consultants Co.
Limited, and AQUA Consultant and Associates Ltd. In association with Maxwell Stamp Limited for the consultancy services of capacity building for sustainability with Taka 38.47 crore under the Dhaka Water Supply Network Improvement Project.
The Finance Minister said since some 23 firms have submitted their Expression of Interest (EOI), the concerned committee has shortlisted some five firms and out of those the joint venture of NJS Consultants Co. Limited and AQUA Consultant and Associates Ltd. in association with Maxwell Stamp Limited, got the work as it secured the first place.
