SAFF U-15 Champs: Bangladesh to play Sri Lanka on Sunday

Defending champions Bangladesh will play Sri Lanka in their second match of the five-nation SAFF Under-15 Championship at the Kalyani Stadium in Nadia District of West Bengal on Sunday, reports UNB.

The match will kick-off at 12:30pm (Bangladesh time).

Two times champions Bangladesh made a flying start in the ongoing South Asian Junior soccer meet crushing Bhutan by 5-2 goals in their first match at the same venue on Friday. Al Mirad scored two goals while Al Amin Rahman, Emon Islam Babu and Shuvo Sarkar scored one goal each.

In the day’s other match, Nepal tasted the first win in their second match defeating Sri Lanka by 2-0 goals at the same venue.

Touring Bangladeshi players had a stretching session, took part in a recovering session at the swimming pool and participated in a team review session to evaluate performances of the team and players on Saturday ahead of the match against Sri Lanka.

In the remaining league basis matches, Bangladesh will play Nepal on August 27 and hosts India on August 29 at the same venue.

Two top teams of the league basis matches will advance to the final on August 31.

Bangladesh clinched their first title of SAFF Under-15 Championship beating India in penalty shootout (4-2) at the Sylhet District Stadium on August 18, 2015. They clinched the title for the second time beating Pakistan in penalty shootout (3-2) at the ANFA Complex in Kathmandu on November 3, 2018.
