Zia Charitable Case: HC dismisses Khaleda Zia’s bail plea

A High Court bench of Justice Obaidul Hasan and Justice SM Kuddus Jaman on Wednesday have dismissed a bail plea that was filed on behalf of former Prime Minister and Chairwoman of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Begum Khaleda Zia who is currently serving seven years jail term over Zia Charitable Trust graft case.

Khaleda Zia filed the plea with the court by her lawyer over the Zia Charitable Trust graft case on 28 July that was scheduled to hear on Tuesday when it was heard partly and the bench dismissed the petition after completing the hearing.

Attorney General Mahbub Alam took part in the hearing on the state behalf while the senior lawyer Advocate Khandakar Mahbub Hossen, Jaynul Abedin and Mahbub Uddin Khakan represented Khaleda Zia in the court. On the other hand, Khurshid Alam was present in the court on behalf of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), the plaintiff of the case.
