Landslide in Myanmar kills 13

At least 13 people were killed by a massive landslide which hit a jade mine in Hpakant township, Myanmar's northernmost Kachin state, on Sunday, a local official said, reports Xinhua.

The incident occurred due to the collapse of the cliff wall at a suspended jade mine near Kayin Chaung village in Hpakant, killing company staff and security personnel at 2:00 p.m. local time, the official from the township general administration department told Xinhua.

So far, Rescuers have found 13 bodies and five were still missing, the department official added.

Two security personnel were rescued and were hospitalized.

Search for the missing was underway by local authorities.
