Traffic sergeant death: Writ seeking Tk 10cr compensation filed

A writ petition was filed with the High Court (HC) seeking its directives on the authorities concerned to give Tk 10 crore as compensation for the family of traffic sergeant Golam Kibria who was killed after being hit by a covered van of Jamuna Group.   

Kibria’s father filed the writ with the concerned department of the HC on Tuesday.

The petition will be heard at the bench of Justice JBM Hasan and Justice Md Khairul Alam, said his lawyer Md Faijullah.

Home affairs secretary, roads and communications secretary, IGP, Police Commissioner of Barishal, Jamuna Group chairman and five others were made respondents in the petition.

On July 16, traffic sergeant Kibria was hit by a covered van owned by Jamuna Group in Barishal died while undergoing treatment at Intensive Care Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). 

Later, Robiul Islam, Inspector of Traffic police of Barisha Metropolitan, filed a case with Bandar Police Station against Mohammad Jalil Mia, driver of the covered van.
