Biswajit Chakraborty granted bail in cheque bounce case

Bengali television and film actor Biswajit Chakraborty has been granted bail in a cheque bounce case filed by Darshan Khamani, a city businessman, reports Times of India. 

The Alipore court gave a verdict on this cheque bounce case sentencing the actor with six months of imprisonment. Biswajit was also directed to pay 30 percent extra on his loan amount. 

However, Biswajit was granted bail later by the court. When TimesOfIndia.com contacted Biswajit, he denied commenting on the topic and said, “I am going for a shoot right now.”

According to the case filed by Darshan, Biswajit reportedly took Rs. 10 lac as loan from his company in 2015. However, all the cheques given by the actor reportedly bounced. In 2017, Darshan filed a case against the actor.

Biswajit is a popular face of Bengali entertainment industry and has done a number of films and television serials. He was last seen in the family drama ‘Jiban Jyoti’, which had actor Ravi Shaw and Aindrila Sharma as the lead actors. Other than ‘Jiban Jyoti’, which went off-air a few months after its launch, Biswajit was also seen playing meaty roles in ‘Gaaner Oparey’ and ‘Chirosaathi’.

Biswjajit made his cinematic debut with the Bengali film ‘Paapi’. Later, he did Ashoke Biswanathan’s film ‘Sunya Theke Shuru’. The actor was seen in the mystery-thriller ‘Kahaani 2: Durga Rani Singh’ starring Vidya Balan. Biswajit has many Bengali films to his credit including ‘Biday Byomkesh ’, ‘Bye Bye Bangkok’, ‘Double Feluda’, ‘Yeti Obhijan’, ‘Paglu 2’.
