The teachers of Dhanmondi Ideal College allegedly seized hundreds of mobile phones from their students which were broken before burnt away. The phones were seized as the students brought those into college on Saturday.
Talking with the students it’s observed that, they carried mobile phones as they shuttles alone between college and house. The students took their phones with them on Saturday as well. In the class hours, teachers seized the phones from the students and told them to give the phones back after college broke. But teachers didn’t give the phones back even burnt away, instead.
They were even beaten when asked not to break the phones, said Masid Hasan, who came from Rupnagar area of Mirpur.
Refusing the allegations, college principal Jashim Uddin claimed that, it’s prohibited to bring mobile phones with students in campus. The students breached the rule and brought their phones with them. Five hundred mobile phones, it’s a false information. Only several phones were broken and burnt away as the phones were rang in the classes and the students talked in the class hours on phones.
When contacted, Dr Harun-ur-Rashid, Inspector of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board said, it should not break the phones on the allegation of having with the students violating college code. It’s sorrowful and sadly. It shouldn’t broke the phones but could warned them.
He also said, if the students make a written complaint it would be probed.
