The rail communication between Rajshahi and others parts of the country remained suspended on Thursday after an oil carrying train derailed at Holidagasi area in Charghat upazila of Rajshahi on Wednesday evening.
The Executive Engineer of the west zone of Bangladesh Railway Abdur Rashid was suspended over the incident.
Besides, a 7-member probe committee was formed headed by the west zone’s divisional transport officer Al Mamun, an official of the railway told Jago News.
Khandakar Shahidul Islam, the General Manager of Bangladesh Rail’s West Zone said, a rescue train spotted immediately from Ishwardi and started to set the wagons on track back but it was disrupted due to dimmed light and rain.
Earlier in the day, 4 derailed wagons were recovered and the rest would likely be set back before evening.
