Noted media personality Muhammad Jahangir, executive director of Centre for Development Communication, passed away while undergoing treatment at Asgar Ali Hospital in Gandaria of Dhaka early today. He was 68.
He breathed his last at 12:40 am, his son Apurba Jahangir confirmed the death in a Facebok post.
His first namaz-e-janaza will be held at the premises of National Press Club. Later, he will be buried at Shaheed Buddhijibi Graveyard in Mirpur after second namaz-e-janaza at a mosque adjacent to his Shantinagar residence.
He had been suffering from cancer for long. He was admitted to the hospital on Monday and put on life support there since then.
Former student of Dhaka University, Jahangir had written and edited 25 books, mostly on media and journalism.
Jahangir is the younger brother of Nobel Laureate Prof Muhammad Yunus.
