Rushema Imam, a member of parliament from a reserved seat for the Awami League (AL), died of a heart attack on Tuesday night. She was 85.
She breathed his last around 11 pm while undergoing treatment at Faridpur Heart Foundation.
She left behind a son and a daughter to mourn her death.
Her namaz-e-janaza will be held at Faridpur Police Lines playground after Asr prayer today. Later she will be buried at her family graveyard at Komlapur.
Rushema's husband Imamuddin Ahmad was the president of the Faridpur district unit of the AL and a close aide to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
She was the principal of the Ishan Memorial High School in Faridpur. She took oath as an Awami League MP from Faridpur on Feb 20 from a seat reserved for women.
